I’m Candice White

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker

&

Mental Health Therapist

I’ve earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Social Work, with a focus on Community Empowerment and Program Development. I have practiced as a therapist at Baobab Counseling Center for 3 years and excited to launch my own practice, Power of Our Healing. My goal is to provide a safe space for professionals and families through providing therapy as well as resources, workshops and events. I have served youth and families for over 20 years in the nonprofit space, pivoting to mental health during the pandemic. My purpose is to have a hand in introduce therapy and healing to all in marginalized communities, particularly the Black & Brown community. I strongly believe that healing requires and open mind to learn and commitment to action.

But there’s more to me than my resume.

  • I’m a wife to my college sweetheart and mother of 4 children: 3 girls and a boy of all different ages and stages. I will speak candidly about my experience to anyone who can (and needs to) listen. I am a continuous learner and love to share resources with others.

  • I am not only personally connected to the challenges of as a mom and wife, but I am also living the experience as Black woman and servant leader within communities in need. I connect with, and gain, the trust of my clients with my warm and open nature. I am strengths-focused and love to celebrate what makes others unique. I love to convene and I love to connect people.

  • I started Power of Our Healing, LLC because of my own experience growing up in a community with limited resources to mental wellness. I am the daughter of a teen mother, who overcame a world of obstacles to raise successful children. I am also a first generation college graduate and first to raise a family beyond my home state. Leading a different life than what I knew, I noticed the need of mental health services and education for not only , as it was not a part of my upbringing.

  • Growing up, community means the world to me and it shows in much of what I do. The generations before made me who I am today, and we have to find ways to honor our past or current experiences, even if it wasn't or hasn't been a field of flowers. Our experience is unique and though there is joy, we have to address the pain. This is where healing begins.

Let’s start the converation about mental health.
